No Place Like Mom and Pop’s

I mention these less than scintillating writing topics because I promised the gods that when I retired, I would never again write anything serious or use any eight syllable medical terms. I’ve strictly adhered to that and have had a lot of fun.

What I’d like to do (and scratch off my bucket list) is publish a book of 30 or so short pieces.  The working title is: Just for Fun:  Short Fiction, Memoirs and Essays. I’ve only tried to publish one piece, which ran on NPR.

The common thread through all the pieces is subtle humor.  Secondly all the stories are true. I have changed identities and locales and have re-created the dialog to move the story along.  I mentioned short fiction in the title. Although those stories I’ve written in the third person actually happened to me, I’ve labeled them as fiction.  I don’t think anyone would believe all the little adventures could happen to one person, but then most people have not lived as adults in 17 locations in 11 states.
